Bible Study

Disciple Bible Study

Central Christian Church is in its 6th year of DISCIPLE Bible Study. Some of our members have completed or are near completing each of the four 9-months Bible Study courses. DISCIPLE Bible Study began as an attempt build disciples through studying the entire Bible in a 34 week intensive study. These original classes were so popular, that additional courses were produced. Our church has offered the additional courses, but we have made the commitment to offer the original study every year (sometimes known as DISCIPLE 1).

The focus of this study program is on the participant as a learner, believer, follower, proclaimer and servant. Through regular in-depth study and discussion of the Scriptures, participants develop deeper understanding of the Bible, rich relationships with each other and an enhanced sense of belonging to a family of believers.

“Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study”, is a 34-week study in which participants will read and discuss nearly 80% of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. This is a stand alone course, but can also serve as the foundation for the other DISCIPLE studies.

Disciple Bible Study II

“Into the Word Into the World”, is a 32-week study covering Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts in depth. This study invites participants to make decisions about how they will respond to scripture in terms of ministry in the world.

“Remember Who You Are”, is a 32-week study of The Prophets and The Letters of Paul available to adult and youth who are graduates of DISCIPLE: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY. It calls clergy and laity to disciplined Bible study that will result in a ministering community nourished by Scripture.

Disciple Bible Study IV

“Under the Tree of Life”, is a 32-week study of the writings (Old Testament books not in the Torah or Prophets), the Gospel of John, and Revelation, including a video-led, interactive worship experience of Revelation.

Christian Believer

“Christian Believer” is a 30-week study with daily preparation and a weekly two and a half-hour group sessions. This course is from the same publisher as the Disciple series integrates Bible study with the study of the basic beliefs of the Christian faith as a source for and a vision for renewal of the church. The goal of “Christian Believer” is to make available to people the substance of the Christian faith that the church has confessed as a way of connecting to God and living faithfully.

CHRISTIAN BELIEVER:

  • Addresses the uncertainty many have about the substance of the Christian faith and the connection between believing and living
  • Makes available to followers of Jesus the content of the Christian faith the church has confessed as a way of connecting to god and living faithfully
  • Integrates the study of Scripture and the study of doctrine
  • Confirms doctrine’s role in identifying what is and what is not to be believed and affirms doctrine as the church’s answer to life questions
  • Invited followers of Jesus to learn or relearn the language of the Christian faith in word, symbol, and song
  • Develops faithful lives and communities centered in the gospel of Jesus Christ and sent forth by the Holy Spirit to point others to God

The format of study is very similar to that of the other DISCIPLE courses. All DISCIPLE I grads are encouraged to try this new offering. Please contact the church office if you are interested in this course.
